5 Tips to Help Raise your Self-Esteem
Confidence is crucial in our lives for building self-worth in both our personal and professional lives. We need confidence to build relationships, raise our kids and perform well at work. In many ways our level of self-confidence determines our success in in life.
When you are confident, you are more likely to be happier, be more productive and successful at work, and even when you are dating that special someone in your life. Many times happiness goes hand-in-hand with confidence. Increase one and you usually automatically increase the other.
But if confidence does not come easily to you, and that is true for many of us, how can you build it? What can you do to feel more confident and happy on a consistent basis every day? Here are some tips for you to build your self –confidence on a daily basis.
Keep a Journal
Start writing down things you are grateful for. Focus on the positive. Our brains allow us to think about the things that we are fearful of. It’s a protective mechanism. We can change that by thinking about all of the things in life that are going well. Write some things down every night before you go to bed. When you start to do this on a daily basis, you will feel happier and therefore more self-confident.
Eat Healthy
Fuel your body with healthy food choices and you will start to feel so much better. Your body will love you for it! Stay away from high sugar, processed foods. It only starves your body of the nutrients it needs to give you energy. You will start to feel so much better and you will be happier and more self-confident by eating lean meats and fruits and vegetables on a regular basis. Healthy food choices also fuel the brain so it works better.
Exercise!
I love to exercise in the morning, but if you can’t do it then, do it at some point in your day. It’s a great way to keep your body energized. Research tells us that our minds are clearer, more focused and are more productive at work.
You will start to feel an overall sense of well-being. And, if weight loss is one of your goals, your clothes will start to fit your body better which leads to more self-confidence. Treat your body like a temple! You are in motion to reach for the sky and your goals. Who knows, you may catch the eye of that special person you are trying to meet!
Use Positive Self-Talk
Think positive! Talking out loud to yourself and hearing it makes us believe we can do it! Use this tool on an everyday basis to help you get through a difficult situation or even walking in to an interview for a new job.
We have roughly 70,000 thoughts that are in our minds every day. Amazing isn’t it? If you use the powerful tool of positive self-talk, we can change the way we think in our brains as we soon internalize it as something we believe. Trust me, everybody uses positive self-talk more than you think! When you fill your brain with positive affirmations, your brain will start to believe it and you will feel more confident!
Watch and Listen to People who Inspire You
I like to watch TED talks on You-Tube for inspiration. Oprah always has something to share on inspiration and what inspires her to do what she does. I mean, look at what she has done. She started her own network! Take some time each day to sit in a quiet space and just breathe, or read inspirational quotes or a story about how a person overcame an obstacle. By setting some goals for yourself, you will remain focused and will stay motivated to take action and move forward with them. All these things will boost your confidence and reinvigorate your efforts.
Now that you I have you thinking about your self-confidence, it is important to continue to maintain it. Try one or all of these tips by taking baby steps to change your life so that you stay positive, healthy and happy. Self-esteem is not learned or obtained overnight. Take care of yourself and keep trying!
